About

During my graduate studies while pursuing my Master’s in Counseling, I was introduced to a personal values sort created by Miller et al. at the University of New Mexico Department of Psychology. It quickly became a favorite exercise, one I’ve used with countless clients over the years. While it was a great tool, I noticed some values were missing. Over time, as I gathered feedback from clients about what was missing or could work better, I decided to create my own.

As someone who loves words, the process of finding the perfect word has always been deeply satisfying. What began as a simple idea to add a few words to the existing list soon evolved into a two-year project. I more than doubled the number of values, rewrote every existing definition (as well as created new ones), and collaborated with my web-designer husband to craft a design that matched the depth and purpose of the cards.

The result is Values Vault Cards: a tool that combines years of professional experience, client insights, and a passion for language, into a resource that empowers individuals, families, therapists, and coaches to uncover their core values and make decisions that align with their true selves.

Hope you enjoy them!

Following your passion is a luxury.
Following your values is a necessity.
Passion is a fickle magnet: it pulls
you toward your current interests.
Values are a steady compass: they
point you toward a future purpose.
Passion brings immediate joy.
Values provide lasting meaning.
